Each year Ghana sends one young person with the presidential delegation to New York. This is how that person is found, and what the year asks of them.

What applicants ask.
Do I have to attend LifeLink Model UN to be selected?
The call is nationwide, but many Observers first stood out at LifeLink conferences. Joyce Okyerewaa Danso, Priscilla Wepia Ametame, and King George Opoku Amuaben were all best delegates there. Model UN is the best preparation for the interviews.
How old do I need to be?
The Observer seat is open to Ghanaian citizens aged 18 to 25. LifeLink Tertiary Model UN accepts delegates aged 18 to 27.
When does the call open?
The call is announced ahead of each General Assembly. Leave your details through the contact form and choose “Selection and applications” to hear when it opens.
What happens at the interviews?
Shortlisted candidates meet a panel in Accra and give an on-the-spot presentation of a social-innovation idea. In 2016, 36 finalists from 226 applicants went through this stage.
Does the Observer pay for the trip?
The Observer travels as part of Ghana’s delegation. Write to the programme for the arrangements that apply to the current year.
