Meet The Youth Observer 2015

Joyce Okyerewaa Danso recently graduated from the University Of Ghana with a degree in Psychology. She is passionate about social change and has performed many social responsibilities in her community; She is particularly interested in providing quality education for students repeated for poor academic performance and orphans, using a holistic approach in education. During her term as Ghana’s Youth Observer, Joyce will be responsible for campaigning on the SDGs, establishing and building strong relationships with UN agencies in Ghana and other NGOs to promote the campaign on the SDGs and help build a stronger UN for better world.

While in school she served on several boards and was President of the University Of Ghana debate society. She has also won several laurels both internationally and locally. In 2012, she was named as part of the top five public speakers in Africa (PAUDC); she also won the overall best delegate award of the maiden tertiary model United Nations conference organized by lifelink Ghana and was nominated in 2015 as most influential student leader of the year in the University of Ghana SRC Awards.

Her current project, which won the social venture challenge in the 2015 Harvard MUN Resolution Project focuses on orphan education and providing special tuition for student repeated for poor academic performance. She is passionate about issues on governance and policy implementation and has a great interest in Model United Nations; she has participated in many international conferences with the most recent on sustainable development in Columbia University (USA, Newyork).
